Verdict: use tinyMediaManager if your library is mostly films and TV shows and you want posters, plots and NFO files for Kodi, Plex, Jellyfin or Emby. Use SceneSort Pro if much of your collection is personal or archived video that no film database knows, and you want duplicates, clean names and a browsable library without going online. Plenty of people will want both. (SceneSort Pro is our product. Facts about tinyMediaManager were checked on its official site on 22 Oct 2026.)
tinyMediaManager is a free, Java-based media manager for Windows, Linux and macOS. It identifies your movies, movie sets and TV shows, fetches metadata and artwork from online sources such as TheMovieDB, writes NFO files that Kodi, Emby, Plex and Jellyfin understand, and renames files and folders to a pattern you choose. Its TV handling includes episode and season detection.
SceneSort Pro is a Windows app for organising a big, messy media library offline. Instead of looking files up in a database, it works with what's already there: it cleans up the names, finds duplicate videos by comparing the pictures, checks for broken files and gives you a fast library to search and play from. Because it never needs a database match, it works on family recordings, courses, talks, camera exports and old archives just as well as anything else.
